Many expected the Spanish giants to sign either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland ahead of the coming campaign, but both forwards opted for other options.
While Haaland swapped Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City, Mbappe penned a new three-year deal at Paris Saint-Germain.
President Florentino Perez has since had to turn his attention elsewhere, with two new faces welcomed to the Madrid-based side over the past month in Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Rudiger, 29, completed a free transfer to the 14-time UEFA European Champions after he decided not to extend his contract at Chelsea, and 22-year-old Tchouameni snubbed Liverpool's interest to become one of Real's most expensive purchases in history.
The France international will join several compatriots of his in Spain, with Eduardo Camavinga, Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy all available to help him integrate into the squad following his arrival.
In terms of the club's outgoings, Real decided against handing out new contracts to Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco, who, between them, had amassed just under 1 000 appearances for last season's LaLiga winners.

With Bale having joined MLS outfit Los Angeles FC on a free move, Marcelo and Isco are yet to find new clubs ahead of the coming season.
Victor Chust, a 22-year-old centre-back, meanwhile, has left Los Blancos to join Cadiz in a deal worth €1 million (R17 million).
