Official: Barcelona Announce Their Second 22/23 Signing

Barcelona have now confirmed the signing of their second arrival in this transfer window as Xavi continues to bolster his squad.

The Catalan giants have made their acquisition of Andreas Christensen official today, with the Dane joining the LaLiga giants on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea came to its conclusion at the end of the 2021/22 season.

The 26-year-old will now compete with the likes of Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia at the Camp Nou as Barca legend Gerard Pique nears the end of his career.

The Denmark international leaves Stamford Bridge having had a trophy-laden stint in west London. Christensen made 160 appearances for the Blues, and won the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, Carabao Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles during his 10 years with the club.

He becomes Xavi's second signing of the window as the Spaniard looks to bring in his own personnel.

Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie has already been announced, and with Barca generating more revenue through the sale of some of their TV rights, the football world can expect more arrivals at Barca in the coming weeks.
