Ex-Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has revealed which of his former teammates in Spain was able to successfully stop Lionel Messi in training.
'Messi Wouldn't Make Any EPL Top 6 Side'
It has been two years since the Uruguayan left the Catalan giants for Atletico Madrid, with whom he won LaLiga in his debut season and finished third in this past campaign.
At Barcelona, Suarez proved to be one of the club's best-ever signings as he scored 194 goals and assisted a further 113 strikes in 281 matches, a record that puts him among LaLiga's all-time greats.
Two years prior to his departure, the striker was joined in Spain by a fellow compatriot in Ronald Araujo, who has become a key player for the Blaugrana since, having made an impressive 80 appearances already for the senior team.
In a recent interview, Suarez praised his Uruguay teammate and noted how the centre-back was able to "stop" Messi in training at just 20 years old.
"I'm very happy with the level Araujo has showed all season with Barca," he told ESPN Argentina.
"I always trusted him. I remember him being 20 years old and stopping Leo (Messi) in training.
"That kid is a wall."
Araujo, now 23, has been capped 11 times for Uruguay since his senior international debut two years ago.
