Result: FC Barcelona 2-1 Real Sociedad
Date: 20 April 2019
Venue: Camp Nou
FC Barcelona got back to winning ways in LaLiga after defeating Real Sociedad 2-1 at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
Unlike their last outing at Huesca, Barca rolled out the big guns aside from Sergio Busquets who started from the bench.
The Catalans failed to exert their presence earlier on, with Sociedad offering little space to penetrate while attacking in numbers.
Barca were let off the hook 10 minutes to halftime when Willian Jose fired over the top off a rebound from Marc Andre Ter Stegen.
The final say in the opening half went to the Spaniards, as Clement Lenglet leaped highest to head home Ousmane Dembele's delivery in time added on.
Sociedad made an immediate change at the start of the second half, as Luca Sangalli replaced Igor Zubeldia, while Barca responded with their first change on 56 minutes, bringing on Busquets for a quiet Arthur Melo.
Sociedad levelled six minutes later as Juanmi ran behind the defence to beat Ter Stegen from close-range.
The visitors' joy was cut short on 64 minutes after Jordi Alba cut into the area to find the bottom corner from an acute angle.
Barca never looked troubled from then on, despite the few near-misses from the away side close to the end.
In the final 10 minutes, Ivan Rakitic rippled the side-netting after being set-up by Luis Suarez from the counterattack.
As the final whistle sound, the table-topping outfit had done enough to walk away with the maximum points that stretches their lead nine points off second-place Atletico Madrid.
