As Barcelona continue to be active in the transfer market, midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been urged to sue the club over accusations of unpaid wages.
Report: Chelsea Furious With Barca, Block Negotiations
The Catalan giants have been spending big money ahead of the 2022/23 campaign despite being marred by financial instability over the past year, which led to the departure of club icon Lionel Messi and the reduced wages of several veterans in the squad.
It has now come to light how dire their financial situation is, with reports suggesting that midfielder De Jong is still waiting on £17 million (R343 million) in deferred salary payments, with the issue said to be causing a hold-up in a potential transfer to Manchester United.
Former United right-back Gary Neville has now advised the player to take legal action against the Blaugrana if rumours of him being owed unpaid wages are accurate.
Here are the 12 highest-paid players currently at Barcelona:
"De Jong should consider legal action versus Barcelona and all players should be behind him!" Neville wrote on Twitter.
"A club spending fortunes on new players whilst not paying the ones they have under contract their full money is immoral and a breach. FIFPRO should be all over bullying like this and stop it."
There have been largely contrasting reports coming out of the Camp Nou as the club looks to navigate its way to a calmer financial situation.

"For me, he [De Jong] is a fundamental footballer but there is also the economic situation and fair play," the Spaniard said, per the Daily Mail.
