Footballer Slapped With 8-Match Ban For Stripping Naked In Goal Celebration

A footballer has been handed an eight-match ban after he stripped naked and waved his genitals at opposition players and fans, causing a massive 22-man brawl on the pitch.

The incident occurred in Brazil in December, when winger Emerson Carioca, who was playing for Sampaio Correa at the time, scored a dramatic 95th winner to send his side to the Rio de Janeiro state league play-off final.

The 25-year-old first removed his shirt before lowering his shorts during his provocative celebration, flaunting his bottom and waving his penis in a bid to taunt opponents Marica and their shocked supporters.

This led to a mass brawl between players from both teams on the pitch, and Carioca has now received an eight-match ban for the "violation of sports discipline and ethics", according to The Sun.

With the player having left Sampaio Correa in the weeks that followed, Carioca's new team Portuguese de Rio will reportedly appeal the decision, while the winger also apologised for his actions.

"Marica's people have been slandering me for the past three matches I've played against them," he said.

"They've called me a slob, an alcoholic, and a fat monkey. I was annoyed at what went on.

"I want to ask forgiveness from Sampaio Correa's fans, my teammates, and also Marica's fans, players, and everyone who loves football."
