Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure, has responded to recent abuse on Twitter and insisted 'disgraceful' racism must stop.
Police are investigating after Toure was reportedly attacked with two racist remarks on Twitter within hours after reactivating his account on Monday.
"For me it's a disgrace to be honest," the 31-year-old told BBC Sport.
"We need to do something to try to tell people those kinds of behaviour have to stop. I want those people to understand what they're doing is wrong.''
Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Tuesday to having received the official complaint from anti-discriminatory body Kick It Out.
The force has yet to issue a formal statement but responded with a Tweet about the matter and confirmed it was under investigation.
It read: "Thank you - we are aware if [sic] this and are investigating.''
Toure is the second black player to having received racist comments on Twitter recently after Mario Balotelli was abused in September.
