Frankfurt carried that momentum into the game as Andre Silva opened the scoring on 57 minutes before Obite N'Dicka sealed the win in the 79th minute.
With Wolfsburg dropping points, the win takes Frankfurt up to third while remain in 14th.
Wolfsburg missed the chance to finish the weekend in third spot after playing to a goalless draw against Borussia Monchengladbach.
As a result, Wolfsburg find themselves in fourth spot, six points ahead of seventh-placed Gladbach after 21 matches played.
The draw snaps Wolfsburg's four-game winning run in the Bundesliga, although they are still unbeaten in their last seven matches.
Wolfsburg travel to Arminia Bielefeld next week while Gladbach host Mainz at BORUSSIA PARK.
