Bayern Munich suffered their third loss of the Bundesliga season after going down 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting earned a rare start from Bayern's thrilling draw with Arminia Bielefeld, with Benjamin Pavard unavailable due to Covid-19.
The recently-crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions cracked 12 minutes in as Frankfurt hit the front after a smart finish from Daichi Kamada wrong-footed goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Frankfurt grabbed a second just after the half-hour mark after Amin Younes dropped a shoulder to drill Kamada's pass into the top corner of the net with Neuer well-beaten.
The Bavarians threatened a comeback late in the first half through a low shot from Joshua Kimmich from the edge of the area, but Kevin Trapp parried and denied Kingsley Coman on the follow-up too.
Momentum shifted back to the host right on the stroke of halftime with Neuer called to work from a first-time strike in the area by Almamy Toure concluding the half in the process.
A substitution from the Bavarians soon after the break followed, as Leon Goretzka entered for Marc Roca whilst Frankfurt stayed unchanged from the first stanza.
Bayern halved the tally seven minutes from the break when Robert Lewandowski back-heeled a low cross from the right-side by Leroy Sane past Trapp to liven up the contest.
Trapp was put in a spot of bother before the closing stages with a first-time volley from an acute angle on the left by Coman but the former parried into touch.
Die Adler continued to stay on the back-foot moments later as a snap-shot in the area by Niklas Sule flew past the bottom-corner before Sane forced a smart save from Trapp.
Bayern nearly conceded a third though in the final minute through a low shot from Filip Kostic, but Neuer parried to see Frankfurt to victory.
