Why Youth Development Is Crucial In The PSL – Reader’s Voice

Default

Any nation that is serious about competing against the best in international football, will always take care of its youth development.

Many of the best footballers today, who have become household names, began showing their potential in youth tournaments.

It is important for our youth teams to qualify for and compete in such competitions if we entertain any hopes of having a strong Bafana Bafana team in the near future.

The great work done by Thabo Senong and his technical team, which includes Helman Mkhalele, should be applauded. By qualifying for the 2019 under 20 African Cup of Nations, our boys will be afforded an opportunity to play against the best that the continent has to offer.

Hopefully they will go all the way and qualify for the u/20 World Cup.

Do you think the focus of football in SA should be focused on the development structures?

Low politicking ruined South Africa. People with knowledge and potential are excluded from the system. Jomo Sono once tried to assist he was excluded. Shakes Mashaba tried he was excluded. Other countries Ghana and Senegal use former soccer players for development and professional football that is why they qualify for big things. We are stucked with the likes of Dennis Mumble, Danny Jordaan etc

In a country where generally speaking there's no interest in investing in the youth, there's no hope in that department...

Yes I agree we need to focuse more on our development, but in our country ther's a big problem, that is why our national team is struggling,I ask myself about our national un 23 team that went to the previus olympics,a player like Mobara was out standing doing well against the well known Brazilian stars but now the boy is not playing in his team it sims like we are kiling our talent.
