Transfer window is a good opportunity for teams to strengthen their squad in order to fight for silverware.
And each and every transfer window fans expect their teams to be active, especially the so called "Big Three". A team like Kaizer Chiefs went three seasons without silverware although they sign players every transfer window. They've signed players hoping they'll help the team win something.
Players like Jayiya, Ntshangase, Hadebe, Castro, Mahlasela, Mirwa, Vries, Billiat and Adramirado Hasina were all signed to help the team taste some silverware but most of the new signings are either benched or don't make the match day squad.
During pre-season games fans expect to see new signings but Kaizer Chiefs insist on using the tried and tested. The perfect example is the Shell Cup, fans wanted to see new combinations and players who didn't play regularly last seasons but Billiat, Castro and Mirwa were the only three players who were given a chance.
Considering it was a pre-season game regular players were supposed to be rested and use new players, after all these players were signed to play not to warm the bench. If ever teams sign players to bench them I think is time they stop signing players.
