It's always interesting when Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs go head to head against each other for a player's signature... It's always unpredictable who will sign that particular player!!! In this case both Soweto Giants teams are looking forward in adding Meshack Maphangule to their current squads!!!
Black Leopards attacker Meshack Maphangule is on the verge of joining Orlando Pirates ahead of next season.
Within the Bucs camp, the deal is very close to being finalized and Maphangule will be donning the famous black and white jersey in the upcoming campaign.
Lidoda Duvha centre forward had been waiting to hear from Kaizer Chiefs for a while now after they initially showed interest in his services.
However, seeing that Amakhosi were dragging their feet, Maphangule opened talks with the Sea Robbers.
"He's heading to Pirates. The deal is imminent,".
"Meshack had been waiting for Chiefs to come back to him, that was last month already, but they haven't. He's made up his mind about joining Pirates,".
Maphangule's contract with Black Leopards is coming to an end in June 2018, and while Leopards were hoping to extend it, the player turned down their offer for a move to Gauteng.
At the time of rejecting the Leopards deal, Maphangule was hoping he will be joining Chiefs, but he's expected to sign on the dotted line with Pirates.
Leopards recently returned to the PSL after topping the promotion/relegation play-offs log with eight points from four games, but even that success wasn't enough to change Maphangule's mind about leaving the club.
The Buccaneers are busy bolstering their squad ahead of what will be a defining season for them following a much-improved campaign in Micho Sredojevic's first year in charge.
They will be expected to start winning trophies, something that they last achieved in 2014 when they lifted the Nedbank Cup trophy under the tutelage of Vladimir Vermezovic.
As things stand, Pirates have signed Kudakwashe Mahachi and Paseka Mako from Golden Arrows and Chippa United respectively, while they have been linked with several high-profile players including Brilliant Khuzwayo, Andile Jali and Thulani Hlatshwayo among others.
Bucs are also expected to part ways with a few of their players in an attempt to give the new players a platform to shine.
