Kaizer Chiefs chairman stuck to his words that 2018 is the final year for Steve to deliver the last two trophies at his disposal. The intention were made clear with the signing of three quality players (Castro, Mahlasela and Siphelele) to lift the spirit of the team. The reinforcement is the sign that the chairman is fed up with mediocrity that team has been exposed to, Steve has been given ammunition to fight for the trophies and now the ball is in his court. However looking at the type of Coach Steve he is and his philosophy, one is inclined to have a doubt that Steve will deliver.
Resistant to change can be Steve's downfall, over the weekend Shabba, Ekstein and Maluleka did not have the best of the game, but Steve kept for over 80 minutes of the game which hampered their chances of winning the game. Favouritism and negative formation is the challenge the team will have to overcome if success is to be realised. One more thing is the calmness of players, swift release of the ball and composure. Paez is always making good runs but the delays from midfielder particularly Shabba and Maluleka is worrying.
Nonetheless, Steve has to find the way to deliver the trophy or he is out. The extent to which the chairman went to sign quality players shows that patience has run out and what's left is the good performance accompanied by results.
It’s time to deliver or leave the post. The ball is your court coach Steve.
