Orlando Pirates came from the worst season in the history of the club. At one stage they suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of CAF champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, which resulted in an outrage of fans invading the pitch.
Augusto Palacios was replaced by Muhsin Ertugral who also suffered a 6-1 defeat to SuperSport United and the embarrassment saw head coach Mushsin resign on national television.
A new head coach was named, Kjell Jonevret, who came late towards the end of the season and the woes kept piling up at Orlando Pirates. It was under Coach Kjell Jonevret that Orlando Pirates finished outside top eight.
This led to many people, including Pirates supporters to think that maybe the Swedish coach also isn't good enough. Perhaps even some players might think a new coach is needed. It was reported that his future is being decided by Orlando Pirates' management. However, it is too soon to condemn coach Kjell Jonevret.
This was the same coach who led Orlando Pirates to halt their losing streak and led Orlando Pirates to the Nedbank Cup finals. Surely, the coach deserves the benefit of the doubt. At least he should be given a full season or two before throwing him under the bus.
Every coach has his own philosophy and coach Kjell Jonevret is no different. The players still need time to understand his preferred style of play. Bringing another coach means a new philosophy and more struggle for Orlando Pirates.
Should Orlando Pirates get rid of coach Kjell Jonevret or should he be given a chance to prove himself?
