I Have Already Voted For 2017/18 PSL's Goal Of The Season – Reader’s Voice
In previous seasons, I used to wait until the last games of the campaign before I could go for the best goal of the season
In most cases, it was always difficult for me to decide on a spectacular goal of my choice. But this season I do not need to stress at all because Hlompho Kekana of Mamelodi Sundowns has just simplified the equation for me.
This simple decision means that I just have to wait for the PSL to open the lines for voting for the best goal of the season.
On this day, 1/11/2017, Sundowns played their 7th league game of the campaign against Orlando Pirates.
It was indeed a terrific encounter whereby both teams used the system of attack and attack. I really enjoyed the game and thanks to both teams for such an entertaining display of football.
Within the opening 120 seconds of the game, we saw the first goal through deflection even though Kekana later said that it was a fluke.
Again Kekana produced a thunder strike from his own half to beat Wayne Sandilands of Orlando Pirates to make it 2-0. Some will say it was a blunder and that the goalkeeper fumbled but, credit to where it is due, all hail 'Bra Hlompho' for such a thunder strike because we hardly see players taking shots from range in our local football, only the chosen ones like him and some few players who do that.
The latest goal against Pirates reminded me of his other goal for Bafana Bafana against Cameroon where we played to a 2-2 draw. That goal was also nominated for Fifa Puskas Award.
Without a doubt, Kekana is the master of thunder strikes!
The game ended 3-1 in favour of Mamelodi Sundowns. Thanks to Kekana, Marc Van Heerden and the super sub, Anthony Laffor for the goals.
Once again thanks to both teams for such an entertaining football match.
