In recent seasons Kaizer Chiefs were known as signing cheap players, buy one get one free deals, and signing free agents. But this season, Amakhosi finally silenced their critics, by adding well known Big Names to their roster, they signed the likes of Castro, Ntshangase, Zuma, Zulu, Jayiya and Mahlasela, they also promoted Meyiwa and Ngezana to mention a few from their development structure. Now this means the Glamour Boys will have to let few players leave.
Khuzwayo, who has only made two appearances in all competitions, has been heavily linked with a move to Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates. The goalkeeper’s contract expires at the end of June and it is said that he is ready to find a new home where he will get an opportunity to play.
According to a source close to Amakhosi, Khuzwayo is not the only one who will be leaving Naturena at the end of what has been an inconsistent season for Amakhosi.
Left back Sibusiso Khumalo and midfielders Keagan Buchanan and Edmord Chirambadare are set for exits at the end of the season.
Khumalo joined Amakhosi last season from SuperSport, but has not been able to feature consistently in the team, although injuries have set him back at times.
Philani Zulu is currently the left back in coach Steve Komphela’s starting line-up and Khumalo is likely to get a chance to play before the season comes to an end, unless there are injuries and suspesions in the coming weeks.
"Khumalo and Keagan are definitely on their way out at the end of the season,” said the source.
"Khuzwayo is seeking more game time and there’s a high possibility that he will move to a team where will get the number one jersey,” said the source.
Khuzwayo agent, Tim Sukazi, could not be reached for comment, despite promising to return call on Friday.
Veteran left back Tsepo Masilela, meanwhile, is hoping to get a contract extension from the club. He is back in training having struggled with injury this season.
