Chiefs failed Khuzwayo, now he'll find new home!!!
Amakhosi are set to lose the 27-year-old goalkeepers at the end of the current season, as he looks to move to a club where he will get game time
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo will not be renewing his contract with the club when it expires at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper has been forced to play second fiddle to Chiefs No.1 Itumeleng Khune. He's reportedly grown frustrated with his lack of game time at the Soweto giants and he is looking to move on.
Khuzwayo was previously reported to be on the radar of both Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City, with the latter having abandoned their interest in him due to his hefty demands.
However, after Khuzwayo allegedly failed to be given guarantees regarding more first team action, according to his agent Tim Sukazi, he will be leaving Naturena at the end of the season.
Khuzwayo has only made a total of seven appearances in the last two seasons at the Glamour Boys, and it is unlikely that will change anytime soon, especially with Khune in the form of his life so far this campaign.
“The rotation system doesn’t apply at a team like Kaizer Chiefs, which is unfortunate for a player who’s ready like Brilliant Khuzwayo, who is equally capable of doing the job for Chiefs,” Sukazi told SABC Sport this week.
“You’ll remember that the last time Chiefs won titles, which was the league and the Nedbank Cup, Brilliant Khuzwayo was their number one. So, his availability and readiness was proven a long time ago. Brilliant has been left with no choice, but to look elsewhere and that’s what we’re currently doing,” he added.
Sukazi, though, has ruled out a move for Khuzwayo during the current January transfer window which closes at midnight on Wednesday.
“He’ll still be in the Kaizer Chiefs squad list after the window period. However come the end of the season or the end of his contract, which is the 30th of June, he would have left Kaizer Chiefs. He wants to play,” concluded Sukazi.
