This article may create controversy base on your personal opinions. Note that I'm not trying to dissuade your excitement and hope about the world cup, nevertheless, I'm tryna show you how false the win can be, according to the logic of football. To me, I'll only base my hopes on God, ONLY. I see a lot of fans getting excited about the win and the possibility of qualifying for the world cup, this a result of Bafana triumph against Burkina Faso.
To me, to some, the win is not convincing, the buildup to the goals was not significant, what I'm trying to say is that the goals may be good ("yes!! we need goals to win the game" but we need beautiful goals to be convinced that the win is real) but the buildup was not good. it seems to me that our opponents were not strong enough in defense since they conceded frivolous goals. The funny part is that we played three central midfielders but the ball possession was not on our side. Percey played well, but he also had a lot of mistakes which are not considered by fans since we desperately needed a victory, this is what made Baxter say something like this "we should have won by at least six goals" wait!!, did he say six. How would the six goals we won by them help us? will it bring back the six points that we lost against Verde or will it help boost our useless goal difference?
Nevertheless, back into context, another problem which I saw was in the starting lineup "... BUT WE WON". A win doesn't mean that the line up was reasonable, okay fine maybe playing other players was a right decision, but also putting some other players in the stands was not a right decision. You see, the problem about this match is that it deceived a lot of people, even the coach himself and this means that it is highly possible for him to play this starting xi in the next match. For me, players such as Serero and Dino should have started the game. Another thing that I've noted, but on this one people gonna kill me, WEATHER, have you noted that over the years weather has influenced so many results in football. Okay, I truly don't think that the weather was on the side of Burkina Faso since they have struggled a lot. Another problem which should be considered, it actually a question, the question is that, is it because of the greatness of Khune that we didn't concede or our defense was weak or lastly Burkina Faso's attack was not that offensive.
As for me I'm truly gonna put my faith in God independently of our team, cause I can't trust them as long as they haven't been effective on the pitch, although they've won. I still believe that something like that should've been a draw or just an I-0 to South African, I'm saying this not that I underestimate them, but is because of how they've played.
