Real Madrid line up first signing of summer 2020 transfer window
Real Madrid have already lined up their first big 2020 summer signing, it’s claimed.
Los Blancos have spent lavishly in recent months with Zinedine Zidane back in the hot seat.
The Spanish giants were never serious title contenders last season and Florentino Perez wants the side to be a force again.
A deal for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba had been mooted.
However, a transfer failed to get over the line with United demanding at least £150m.
Real are now diverting their attention elsewhere.
According to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo , Dutch sensation Donny van de Beek has been lined up to be Perez’s first signing of next summer’s window.
The Ajax ace, 22, has been a standout performer in the Eredivisie.
He’s already racked up 97 top-flight appearances despite his relative youth.
Signing the rising star won’t be cheap, but it’s thought he’ll cost considerably less than Pogba.
Sensational reports over the weekend claimed Real were never really interested in the Frenchman.
Jose Mourinho’s adviser, Eladio Parames, suggested Real’s interest was all designed to appease their own support.
"Real Madrid's involvement was far less real than it seemed,” he told The Sun.
