Maritzburg Lost Two Points- Than One Gained
After fighting tooth and nail in the promotional/relegation play offs at the end of last season, Maritzburg United, is the most improved side this summer.
The Team of Choice managed to reach a cup final already and is in the top half of the log standings. Facing Kaizer Chiefs who are boasting a good form on Sunday afternoon, Maritzburg gave their all and deserved to clinch maximum points but settled for a draw. Maritzburg was a better side on the day, creating enough chances to win the match. A visibly furious Eric Tinkler couldn't believe his eyes as his charges squandered clear cut chances.
Sharing of spoils was not a true reflection of the match. Maritzburg has lost two precious points than the one gained. Tinkler's men can't live on borrowed time again as they did last season. Ernst Middendorp said he doesn't care how he wins his matches, what matters to him is points in the bag, but he should be wary of how his team performs when collecting those points.
Going into the Christimas break and in the top eight bracket has to be more than enough for Maritzburg. The so called small teams are bridging the gao in the PSL and there are no longer easy games. Maritzburg proved to difficult for early pace setters Amakhosi.
Maritzburg has what it takes to turn Harry Gwala stadium into a slaughter house. The question is will they?
