SuperSport United striker Jeremy Brockie has caused a massive stir in South African football after getting off to a blistering start in Matsatsantsa colours last month. Now, as we know, whenever hype is created surrounding a star player in the local game, the bigger clubs in the country tend to stand up and take note.
The idea of Brockie leaving SuperSport this soon may sound a bit far-fetched, as he just signed for the club in January, but anything can happen in football.
One team in need of a goal scoring striker is indeed Absa Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs. With five goals already accredited to Brockie’s name in all competitions this season, there is no doubt about the lad’s ability in front of goal.
The Siya Crew caught up with the New Zealand-born number nine striker and when asked if he would ever consider a move to Amakhosi, he said he is fully focused on growing with coach Gordon Igesund and SSU.
“Nah, I think SuperSport can be a big club and the coach (Gordon Igesund) has brought some good players here. We will continue to build as a club as well. I mean we beat Pirates and Chiefs in our last few matches – that means we can compete with the best. We are going to give the PSL a good shot next year and that’s what we’re looking forward to!” he said.
With Brockie uttering those words, do you think he would have been a great acquisition for Chiefs?
