A new season often means new players, new ambitions and new boots for Mzansi’s stars. This is no different for Itumeleng Khune, as he makes his way back to full fitness, however will the Amakhosi stopper be donning these new boots in their opening match?
Kaizer Chiefs kick off their 2019/20 ABSA Premiership campaign off with a tricky tie against Highlands Park on Sunday, although there are still doubts about the availability of Khune. The 32-year-old has missed almost eight months of action following a shoulder injury.
Ernst Middendorp has mentioned that Khune might just be available for the match. It has to be said that Amakhosi do have capable replacements in the form of Bruce Bvuma and Daniel Akpeyi. With the latter having starred for Nigeria in the recent AFCON.
Khune recently took to Instagram to share his new ‘wheels’ that he received from his sponsors, Nike.
“Can’t wait to be back on the pitch with my new #Mercurial@nikefootball ❄️ #Distribution101Loading #HeartOfAlion,” Khune wrote
It remains to be seen whether Khune will indeed be back on the pitch tomorrow or will Chiefs’ fans wait to see their number one continue.
Do you think Kaizer Chiefs are in need of Khune’s services this weekend?
