Being at the summit of the Absa Premiership table this season, the Kaizer Chiefs technical staff may feel that not much needs to be changed due to everything going so well. Still, there is no denying that there is a problem Chiefs are facing, along with the rest of the league, which is that of not having prolific strikers.
Having said that, let’s take a look at how Chiefs addressed this problem and why they do not need a prolific striker to continue the momentum.
This could be the most striking feature in Amakhosi’s gameplay this season, as their combination play going forward has been marvellous to say the least. Many believe that this is the European influence coach Stuart Baxter has sprinkled on the team, blending with the original Chiefs style.
Goals Spread Across Playmakers
Names like Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mandla Masango, George Lebese and George Maluleka have been on the score sheet more than any strikers at the club this season, proving that Baxter does not worry about where the goals are coming from, as long as they are coming.
No Need To Rely On One Player
Having learnt how to efficiently work as a team, Chiefs can take solace in the fact that everyone has stepped up to the plate this season. What this means is that every player on the pitch has a responsibility, and there is not a need to rely on one top performer.
These are but three reasons as to why Chiefs don’t need one star striker, what other reasons can you think of?
