It was revealed in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould may not have his contract extended when it expires in 2016 - with Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United keeping tabs on the situation.
Having said that, the Fan Park crew will take a look at three important reasons as to why Chiefs cannot afford to Gould go.
Only Quality Back-up To Twin Towers
With Eric Mathoho and Tefu Mashamaite being the preferred centre back pairing for Chiefs, and doing ever so well, Gould has found it hard to break the partnership now known as the 'Twin Towers'. However, should one of the Towers collapse due to injury, Gould would be the only quality back up defender.
He Has Experience
At the age of 31, Gould has proven time and time again that he is a top class defender in South African football. His experience in this regard is vital to the team, as he can be counted as one of the leaders within the squad.
Mathoho Future Still Under Speculation
With Mathoho being eyed by overseas-based clubs after being a standout performer for Chiefs and Bafana Bafana, the chances of him leaving provides the opportunity for Gould to once again become a regular starter at the club.
Do you think letting Gould go would be a mistake?
