Muhsin Ertugral has been announced as the new head coach of Orlando Pirates, but there has been no news regarding who his assistant will be. Who would you like to see take the position?
The Turkish tactician was announced as Eric Tinkler's successor on Tuesday evening, following a season that saw Pirates finish seventh on the Absa Premiership log.
Bucs' low position, their worst in seven years, was likely to be the ultimate straw for Dr Irvin Khoza, along with the fact that the club ended the season without a trophy, and he opted to appoint a new mentor.
Ertugral is one of the highest qualified coaches in Mzansi, and he will surely ensure that an adequate assistant will be appointed. But who?
Today, we take a look at possible nominees for the role.
The former Kaizer Chiefs trainer was with Ertugral at Mpumalanga Black Aces, and she could very well be taken to Mayfair too. While she does fit the role of a fitness trainer rather than an assistant, it remains to be seen where her future lies.
The former Sint-Truiden assistant has long been linked with a move to Pirates' coaching staff, and many of the fans are eager to see him back at the club. However, he has no notable relationship with Ertugral, so is not a likely option.
The 47-year-old has been acting as the club's assistant coach for several years now, but is yet to make the step up to head coach. His future at the club remains uncertain, and little has been said about him since Dr Irvin Khoza granted him "extended leave".
The Roodepoort-born tactician hasn't spoken to the media since the news of the Turk's appointment, and it remains to be seen what he will do next season. Tinkler has excelled as an assistant coach at various clubs, and perhaps he could be persuaded to stay on and act as the former Chiefs coach's understudy.
Who would you like to see as Ertugral's assistant?
