With Orlando Pirates hoping to find their way through a tough season filled with misfortunes, the Fan Park crew will now look at a few areas where Bucs could improve their game.
Following the death of Senzo Meyiwa, Bucs were left to search for someone who could take charge of the goalkeeping department. Brighton Mhlongo stepped up to the plate and has provided much needed cover. Yes the club may have signed Siyabonga Mpontshane in the January transfer window but something tells me we are still lacking a goal keeper brave enough to be the next Senzo.
The signing of Tsepo Gumede from Platinum Stars last month has lifted the pressure off veterans such as Rooi Mahamutsa and Siyabonga Sangweni, as we know they aren’t getting any younger. To some extent, our defence is pretty much sorted with names like Ayanda Gcaba and Ntsikelelo Nyauza all waiting in the wings.
In all honesty, we have some of the most talented midfielders in the country at our disposal. The first team regulars like Issa Sarr, Oupa Manyisa and Thandani Ntshumayelo have done well this season and not much change is needed in this regard.
The club is without any natural wingers for the first time in years, Bucs find themselves with no out-and-out wingers at the club following the departure of Daine Klate and Tlou Segolela. Being left with unorthodox wingers such as Thabo Rakhale, Thabo Qalinge, Khethokwakhe Masuku and Sifiso Myeni, it remains to be seen how these modern style wide men will adapt to the Pirates' style of play. Our striking department, in all honesty, needs no alterations as Lehlohonolo Majoro and Kermit Erasmus have been on top form this season.
Reflecting on the squad, what improvements do you think we need to make within the squad?
