Current Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs have made it a priority to address their striking department issues this season, after making needed adjustments to their strike force. Following the departure of the talented Knowledge Musona, no striker at the club has managed to crack the 15 goal mark in a single campaign for the last couple of seasons.
Following former striker Kingston Nkhatha’s move to rivals SuperSport United, Bernard Parker would naturally be the first choice striker at the moment. Although versatile enough to play either up front or in a number 10 role, Parker's eye for goal would put in him in good stead to start upfront.
Predominantly used as an impact player off the bench, fellow striker Siphelele Mthembu brings an air of presence and energy to the team. Similar to that of Nkhatha, Shaka Zulu’s movement off the ball is one of his best attributes.
Also, having signed David Zulu from Chippa United this season, Chiefs will add another dimension to their attacking prowess with the former Chilli Boys star. Zulu differs from Parker and Mthembu in the sense that he possesses bags of pace and has the ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations.
With the current set of strikers being in the limelight and getting opportunities on the pitch, we tend to forget that we still have Katlego Mphela within our ranks. Killer, as we know, is one of the very few proven goal scorers in the PSL and should he find form at Chiefs, he could be a deadly weapon in our arsenal of talented strikers.
Having said that, who would you pick as your preferred striking duo?
