Wayne Rooney might want to dust those boxing gloves off and get back to the gym after being called out on Twitter by WWE Superstar Wade Barrett.
Barrett called Rooney out on Twitter following Rooney’s dive, which led to a Manchester United penalty against Preston North End in the FA Cup.
The WWE Superstar, who is a lifelong Preston supporter, took to social media to voice his opinion on Rooney - and the Englishman didn’t back down.
“How about that @WayneRooney dive vs @PNEFC?, He won't need to dive when I catch up with him.. #BullHammer #BNB,” Wade tweeted.
Rooney decided to add fuel to the fire and suggested that he would bring former WWE Heavyweight Champion 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin out of retirement to battle Wade Barrett.
“@WadeBarrett ill get stone cold Steve Austin out of retirement for you. Haha” Rooney tweeted.
The incident reminded us of a well-scripted scene from the WWE, as Wade decided to draft in Preston North End striker Kevin Davies to join him in ring.
Wade also urged WWE CEO Vince McMahon to organise the fight in six weeks times.
“.@WayneRooney you and @steveaustinBSR Vs me and @Kevin__Davies at Wrestlemania in 6 weeks. Get it booked @VinceMcMahon.” Wade Tweeted.
Do you think we will see the match commence?
