Itumeleng Khune’s sending off on Thursday day evening will undoubtedly be analyzed repeatedly over the coming days. The media, the fans, Chiefs and the PSL will no doubt be analyzing whether or not Khune’s red was just.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Let’s unravel the scenario…
The Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper was initially booked for suspected time wasting on the ball when he took a slow stroll and placed the ball inside the bigger box.
The referee then resulted in pulling out the yellow card in the 83rd minute with the belief that Khune was time-wasting in hope of keeping Chiefs’ delicate 1-0 scoreline in tact.
But that caution was welcomed with a rather angry response from Khune, who was seen flapping his arms about and demonstrating to the referee what had gone down.
Words were exchanged and the 27-year-old was then given his marching orders by the referee, who swiftly pulled out a second yellow card to assert his authority.
Many feel that the second yellow card was harsh, but the truth of the matter is that we don’t what was said…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is now facing four games on the sidelines after he was caught swearing at a referee during one of his league games for PSG.
If Khune was swearing at the match-official then perhaps the sending off was just? But, then again, we aren’t entirely sure what went down on the field of play.
Do you think that the sending off was just or unjust?
