Some teams produce talent, while others buy it… Today, we take a look at the top ten most expensive squads in world football.
10. Juventus - £289 million
The Italian powerhouses have won 29 Serie A titles, including the last three, 98 Copa Italia titles and two Champions Leagues. With their squad valued at £289 million, it’s no wonder they can dominate Italy with such ease.
9. Borussia Dortmund - £301 million
Dortmund are one of the most successful clubs in Germany and would be considered the natural challengers to Bayern Munich’s dominance. They won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12. To date, the club has eight Bundesliga titles, three German cups and one Champions League and their squad is valued at £301 million.
8. Paris Saint-Germain - £350 million
PSG have won Ligue 1 on four occasions and have also won eight Coupe de France titles, as well as one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. Given the fact that their squad contains the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura, it’s no surprise that they are valued at £350 million.
7. Arsenal - £359 million
We now move to one of England’s most recognisable clubs, Arsenal, who have won 13 Premier League titles, 10 FA Cups and numerous other titles. They may have struggled for silverware in recent years, but spending money to have a squad valued at £359 million has not been the problem…
6. Manchester City - £388 million
Thanks to the club being owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group, Manchester City have managed to win two Premier League titles and an FA Cup after assembling their squad with several big-money signings, who are all currently valued at £388 million.
