With Gaston Sirino signing a new deal that will keep him at Mamelodi Sundowns until 2025, we throw it back to when the Uruguayan was introduced to South African football. Check it out!
Since the 2017/18 PSL campaign, Sirino has forged his name among the best attacking midfielders in the country. Having signed a bumper new contract with the Brazilians recently, Downs fans will get to see more action from the star player who hit the ground running with the reigning league champions.
Sundowns took on Platinum Stars in a league encounter on 20 January 2018 and the call was made for Sirino to showcase his skill set to SA for the first time. Summoned from the bench, Downs already had the result in the bag, having led by three goals with 20 minutes left to play.
A brace by Khama Billiat and a solitary strike by Sibusiso Vilakazi, the man Sirino would come on for, laid the foundation for the South American to freely express himself.
His silky touches, awareness of space and attacking instinct were clear to see, and the Uruguayan only got stronger the more he showed out for the PSL giants.
