In South African football culture, it's almost a tradition for footballers to have nicknames. SuperSport United recently compiled a player profile on one of their youth products, with the player being nicknamed "Nyaope". Did you see it?

The player in question is Kamohelo Mahlatsi and, according to the club, the 20-year-old is an attacking midfielder.

Matsatsantsa recently tweeted a picture of the youngster, along with a short player profile, and Mahlatsi's nickname of "Nyaope" quickly grabbed the attention of fans in the comments section.

I don't like this Nyaope nickname, Nyaopesi or Nyaope boy sounds a lot better.

I gave him that nickname when he was taking part in a local tournament and looked like he was high on nyaope. I dont know how it trended and the name ended up being popular. The boy is an incredible player and that was evident when he was loaned out to second division last season.
