Today, the Fan Park Crew pick out five strikers that have failed to live up to expectations this season.
These players are top talents and after last season we expected them to kick on and really make this season their own, but sadly all we have seen are flashes of brilliance.
Here are our picks:
Christian Benteke - Aston Villa
The big Belgian has been riddled with injuries this season and it has taken him several months to just get playing regularly. His hat-trick this week proves that Villa could be well clear of the relegation zone if he’d been playing at his best all season.
Romelu Lukaku - Everton
Everton took a big risk when they splashed £28 million on their former loan star last summer and they will be disappointed that their faith has only been rewarded with eight Premier League goals this season.
Edin Dzeko - Manchester City
It’s yet another difficult season for the Bosnian in front of goal. He is so often City’s go-to man, even with Sergio Aguero fit and firing. He's just not been with it this year and the arrival of Wilfried Bony has further limited his playing time. Dzeko has just six goals so far.
Robin Van Persie – Manchester United
The Dutchman’s injuries have played a massive role in his decline, but it’s been noted that he doesn’t look as happy as he used to be when Sir Alex Ferguson was around. He has scored 10 goals this season, but that’s about the only contribution he has made all term.
Radamel Falcao - Manchester United
He was once the most feared striker in the world, but now is just another average Joe in the league. Falcao has struggled to adjust to the Premier League and he has only scored four goals following his loan move from AS Monaco.
Can you think of any other strikers that have been misfiring?
