South America produces some of the finest footballers on the planet, but sometimes their style is just not suited to certain leagues, and the Premier League is definitely one of them. The Fan Park Crew takes a look at a few South American’s that have flopped in England.
The Argentina striker moved to Chelsea from Inter Milan for £17 million, but failed to convince Jose Mourinho and the club. He got sent on loan to AC Milan and then his former club Inter before he returned to the Nerazzurri on a permanent deal.
Juan Sebastian Veron
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wasted £28.1m bringing the Argentine midfielder to Old Trafford in 2001. He failed to impress and United somehow managed to sell him to Chelsea for £15m - where he made only 14 appearances.
Yet another Manchester United flop, this time it cost them £7 million. Forlan took 27 games to register his first goal at the club and was sold after two seasons.
Ferguson needed a replacement for Veron and so he brought in Brazilian star Kleberson. The midfielder only managed 20 appearances in two seasons and that was yet again a poor bit of business by Ferguson and the club.
The Brazilian made a £33 million move to Manchester City, after being linked with Chelsea. The striker only made 41 appearances for the club in two seasons, before being sold to AC Milan.
Can you name anymore South Americans that failed in the Premier League?
