With Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker being assigned to the number 10 role at Amakhosi, the Fan Park looks into the prospect of Chiefs going for the kill by playing three up strikers up front in David Zulu, Katlego Mphela and Siphelele Mthembu.
Yes, he still has a bit to prove in a Chiefs shirt, but the 28-year-old former Chippa United player could add to his five PSL goals provided he has quality playing alongside him.
Mphela, who joined Amakhosi from Mamelodi Sundowns last year, is a proven goalscorer in the Premier Soccer League and that’s a fact. Although he hasn't looked at his best in the last two seasons – and seemed sluggish against Edu Sport - we believe that Mphela can cause major trouble once he is back to full fitness.
Though he probably should have had even more goals against Edu Sport in Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup 4-0 victory on Saturday, Mthembu managed a hat-trick and we believe that if he teams up with the other two, he could be key to Chiefs staying at the summit of the ABSA Premiership. Mthembu has relished his opportunity since the departure of Kingston Nkhatha and will be looking to cement his spot in the team.
