Stuart Baxter has, to a certain extent, revolutionised the way Kaizer Chiefs play and his tactical astuteness has benefited the club greatly over the last couple of seasons. I do feel though, that his luck or charm could be running thin at the club.
Here are three reasons why I feel Baxter could cut his time at Naturena short before it gets any worse.
He Is Becoming Easier To Read
In a time of the season where results are more important than performances, Baxter’s players have not come to the party. It happened last season as well, and it could be an indication of the man becoming too predictable. At the end of the day, we want silverware and with Baxter seemingly being caught out in a pattern-like fashion, he may well think about cutting his time short.
Management Issues Could Hamper Progress
This has been one of the talking points throughout the campaign as players who were signed, never seemed to get the game time they deserved - and this may show some glitches in the way the club in managed on that front. Also, former striker Kingston Nkhatha was one of Baxter’s favoured starters, and left the club because of wanting a longer deal. There is no doubt that Baxter liked him, but the club did not do all they could to retain his services. Having said that, Baxter may feel he needs more trust from management in keeping their best players at the club and if such a trend continues, he could become unsettled.
Consider Options While He Is Still A Wanted Man
It was reported not too long ago that Baxter had received coaching options from abroad, indicating that he is indeed a wanted man. Whether in a bigger league, or if the deals are much more lucrative, he could take on new challenges.
Do you feel Baxter should think about the next step in his career and cut his time short at Naturena?
