Gordon Igesund was recently announced as Highlands Park's new head coach, seeing him return to the club he previously played for. But he is not the only coach to have followed this path – can you think of others?
The former Bafana Bafana tactician is the PSL's most successful coach, and he will be looking to help his former side bounce back from their sluggish start to the campaign, which has resulted in one win, one draw and three defeats.
Kaizer Chiefs' Steve Komphela is another coach who returned a club he played for during his career. The Kroonstad-born tactician played for both Free State Stars and Kaizer Chiefs between 1989 and 1993, and he later landed up coaching both clubs.
Another mentor who is excelling at a club he used to play for is Pitso Mosimane. "Jingles" enjoyed two spells at Mamelodi Sundowns during his playing days, and ended up taking over the Chloorkop outfit in 2012, where he has enjoyed great success since.
