Names like Teenage Dladla, John Moshoeu and Brian Baloyi all have one thing in common - their names have forever been engraved in Amakhosi folklore and will never be forgotten on the local football scene.
Today we will look at a few current Chiefs players who could become legends at the club in the not so distant future.
Coach Stuart Baxter recently said that the club is now in a much better position to replace number one shot-stopper, Itumeleng Khune, with Khuzwayo being the most natural successor. Khuzwayo did well to stand in for Khune whilst he was out injured and if his flashes of brilliance are anything to go by, the future is bright for Khuzwayo!
Tower has been one of, if not the best defender in the country at the moment following his immaculate performances for both club and country this season. With overseas-based scouts now eyeing his development, Mathoho has every tool in his locker to become an Amakhosi great.
Upon returning to South Africa after a successful spell in Europe, Masilela looked a cut above the rest with regards to defenders in Mzansi. Masilela is having one of his best seasons in an Amakhosi shirt and if he continues in this fashion, he will no doubt put himself in good stead in becoming a legend at Chiefs.
Eckstein was offered a professional contract the club this season after shining in the MultiChoice Diski challenge for the club's reserve outfit. ‘Pule’, as he is known, is a player with great ability and if he lives up to the nickname, he could also become yet another Chiefs great.
Who else do you think could become the next Chiefs legend?
