There are a few players in Europe who have failed to hit the heights that were expected from them before the campaign got underway. Whether it’s because they’re being overshadowed, or have just lost their form, we want to see more from the following five players.
Although he’s form has picked up over the last month or so, I believe that we’re yet to see the Luis Suarez we were accustomed to seeing week in and week out for Liverpool. The Uruguayan will be key in Barcelona’s final stretch of the season, and now may be the best time for the forward to showcase his undeniable brilliance.
He started off the season well at Real Madrid, but the world-record signing recently went on a nine-game streak without a goal. Los Blancos are within a point of league leaders Barcelona, and there’s no doubt that the 25-year-old winger’s form will play a huge role in their title hopes. He just needs to start playing his natural game, and not worry about what the fans are screaming.
Angel Di Maria
He arrived at Manchester United from Real Madrid with big expectations. The Argentine started off well in the English Premier League, but has recently gone on a woeful spell for Louis van Gaal’s team.
The youngster poses a threat every time he steps onto the field for Liverpool, but many believe that he could be performing better this season. He’s only scored 10 goals and assisted eight for his teammates, while last season he contributed far more with Luis Suarez as his partner. The winger is yet to go on a consistent run this season, and we expect to see a lot more coming from the 20-year-old - as he’ll be crucial in his side’s bid for a Champions League place.
The Brazilian was one of the Chelsea players booed at the weekend, and it has to be said that the 23-year-old has been far from his best. He had a bright World Cup for his country, but failed to take the form to his club side. We know he has all the talent, but we’re yet to see him reach his best.
Are there any other players who you believe can do more for their club this season?
