While 2015 has been a revelation for some, it’s been a disappointment for others – well at least the fans think so. Are they just in bad touch, or have they run out of fuel when their teams need them most? The Fan Park brings you the players who we believe have been in poor in the New Year.
Cesc Fabregas - Chelsea
The midfielder started his Chelsea career with a bang but has failed to emulate his form since the turn of the year. In 2015, he’s only contributed with two assists for his team, whereas before the New Year, he assisted 13 in the Premier League.
Angel Di Maria – Manchester United
The Argentine’s form has been terrible in 2015 – so bad that the talk around the town is that he will be sold at the end of the season. He too started life in England well, moving to Manchester United with a big reputation.
Vincent Kompany – Manchester City
The Belgian has looked almost foolish this year, with attackers not seeing him as much of a defensive force anymore. He was ripped to shreds against Barcelona in both fixtures of the Champions League last 16, and lost his status as one of the best defenders in Europe.
Gareth Bale – Real Madrid
The Welshman has come under heavy criticism in the Spanish press for his below-average performances for the Spanish giants. The 25-year-old went on a nine-game goalless streak for Real, and has been forced to play second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo – who has been visibly upset with the former Tottenham Hotspur man’s contribution.
Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal
The Chilean has only found the net four times since the turn of the year for Arsenal, adding to his 15 goals before 2015. He has been fairly disappointing in recent league games for the Gunners, and had he been at his best against Monaco in the Champions League, he may have helped his side progress.
Can you name any other players who’ve been in bad form since the turn of the year?
