Robin Van Persie To Manchester United
Having stood by him through thick and thin at Arsenal, Robin van Persie decided against signing a new contract with Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, instead, opting for a move to Old Trafford.
Luis Figo To Real Madrid
Figo became the new focus of the Barcelona–Real Madrid rivalry, with Barcelona fans feeling betrayed by his transfer. There were banners hung around the stadium when he returned to the Camp Nou with the words: "Traitor. Judas. Scum. Mercenary."
Ashley Cole To Chelsea
The man now known as ‘Cashley Cole’ at Arsenal left for Chelsea after the Gunners refused to pay him an extra £5,000-a-week in a proposed new deal. On his return to the Emirates, Arsenal fans made £50 notes with Cole’s face on it, and threw them onto the pitch during the game.
Carlos Tevez To Manchester City
Following a successful spell at Manchester United, Tevez made the switch across Manchester for a reported £47m, whre he became the first man to do so since Terry Cooke in 1999. After signing Tevez, Manchester City erected a blue 'Welcome to Manchester' billboard with Tevez in the background, however, he was not that well received on his return to Old Trafford.
