When Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba named his squad for the next two international friendlies against Swaziland and Nigeria, Shakes included only three of our Orlando Pirates stars - with both Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits sending four men to the national team.
Let’s face it, we are bang on form and I feel that there are many other Pirates players who could have made the squad. Let’s take a look at three Bucs stars that deserved to be in the squad, other than Oupa Manyisa, Thabo Matlaba and Lehlohonolo Majoro.
Apart from Majoro, Erasmus has been one of the most inform strikers in the Absa Premiership. With there being a call to solve the country’s goal scoring problems, having both Erasmus and Majoro in one squad would have made a big difference.
Magents has been playing squeaky clean football this season and has gotten stronger and stronger as the season has developed. As one of the best right-backs in the land, Jele’s club form no doubt would have been valuable to the national team.
With Mashaba choosing a vast array of attacking midfielders, a call up for Makola would have made sense. He has been a constant fixture for Bucs and linking up just behind Majoro for Bafana looks an exciting prospect.
What other Bucs stars do you think deserved a shot in the Bafana Squad?
