Hello fellow Buccaneers! The Soweto Derby fever is here and we can all feel it! It is all the South African football fraternity can think about and let's hope that our Bucs can demolish Chiefs on Saturday.
We may have stumbled ever so slightly against Free State Stars on Wednesday evening, but that is just a minor glitch as Eric Tinkler’s charges have directed all their attention to tomorrow’s Soweto derby.
Pirates fell to their last defeat 10 games ago, and that was against Chiefs on December 6, 2014. It was also Tinkler’s first game in charge after he took over from Vladimir Vermezovic under difficult circumstances.
Since then, Tinkler has managed to transform the team into something solid and our boys have gone on a nine-match unbeaten run this season – their longest since the treble winning seasons.
This incredible string of results may have come after the Chiefs game, but Pirates are now better poised to claim their first derby victory in the league since 2012.
The team is scoring frequently, the midfield is flowing nicely and the defence has shown some signs of improvement – outside of the Stars match.
With confidence on the team’s side, it seems that this is the best time for Pirates to beat Chiefs.
Ghosts, do you think a victory is possible?
