Hello fellow Buccaneers! Starting a new year means that everyone has an opportunity to start fresh, and this is exactly what Pirates need.
After taking a quick look back through the past four seasons, history has shown how Pirates tend to do really well at the start of a new year, and turn out strong in the months of January and February.
Looking back to the 2010/11 campaign, Ruud Krol saw his side go unbeaten throughout the first two months, where they enjoyed six wins and three draws.
The following year, January 2012, Pirates only featured in half the number of games compared to the year before. The Bucs managed a perfect record of three wins from three games, while in the 2012/13 campaign, they won two and lost one.
Most recently, in January and February 2014, Roger De Sa and Vladmir Vermezovic saw Pirates turn out on eight occasions. Three of those games were won, two were drawn and three were lost.
Looking at the numbers, Pirates have lost four games in the first two months of each New Year, while 14 games have been won in total and only two drawn.
These are impressive numbers for the club and Eric Tinkler should be feeling confident about resuming the league on 10 February, based on the team’s history.
All the best to our boys, let’s hope they are able to enjoy the second-half of the current campaign! Leave your messages of good luck to them…
