Orlando Pirates sustained their worst defeat in the club’s history against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, but those aren't the only disturbing figures of their campaign so far. Let's take a look at more.
When Muhsin Ertugral was appointed as head coach for this term, many fans were ecstatic about the prospect of competing for silverware. However, that fell by the wayside after the club endured a run of four successive draws and then the famous 6-1 loss to SuperSport United.
That defeat, the first of the season, resulted in Ertugral's resignation and Augusto Palacios was brought into the set-up on an interim basis.
Just like his predecessor, the Peruvian began his reign with two wins, but then fell to three draws and three defeats, with the last loss coming in the shape of the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Pitso Mosimane's men.
The scoreline at Loftus has since gone down as the worst result in Pirates' 80 years of existence, and it has just added to the concerning figures this season.
Here is a quick snapshot of the concerning figures this term:
Coaches: Muhsin Ertugral & Augusto Palacios – only one (Maritzburg United) of the nine teams above Pirates on the log have changed coaches this season.
Log Position: 10th – four wins, seven draws, four defeats.
Total Wins: Four – two under Ertugral, two under Palacios
Biggest Defeats: 6-0 vs Mamelodi Sundowns, 6-1 vs SuperSport United – worst defeats in club history.
Goals Conceded: 23 (Fourth worst defence in the PSL)
Goals Scored: 15 (Ndoro has scored 11 of them, and they are the fourth worst attack in the PSL)
What do you think Pirates need to do to turn their season around?
