With the end of the season drawing near, and Chelsea already being crowned the English Premier League champions, Jose Mourinho reportedly has set his sights on next season’s transfer targets – with Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert being the biggest surprise amongst the lot.
Since the turn of the year, it has been said that the under-fire Gareth Bale would not being wearing the white of Real Madrid next season, and Chelsea have emerged favourites in the race for his signature. Personally, I believe Bale would be a great buy for Mourinho, as he has already left his mark in London, during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, and would surely pick up from where he left off – this time in blue.
Rickie Lambert has been linked with Chelsea, which is undoubtedly the strangest rumour of them all, as the 31-year-old has hardly featured this year for Liverpool, and when he has, he’s done little to cement any sort of a starting spot.
Another possible target for Mourinho and Chelsea is Raphael Varane, with the young Real Madrid defender having played under the Portuguese boss at Los Blancos before. It’s said that Varane could come in for an aging John Terry, who may not have the legs to play as much as he has this season.
Robert Green is another reported target on the club’s radar, as all arrows are pointing to the exit sign for Petr Cech, with the goalkeeper wanting regular first-team football.
Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Douglas Costa are other reported targets for the Portuguese boss, as they’ve received great reviews from the club’s scouts.
Who do you believe Chelsea should sign at the end of the season?
