Today, the Fan Park Crew takes a look at a few transfers that just did not make any sense at the time. The names that were picked are either big players that went to strange clubs or elite clubs signing players that they would never use.
Everton to Real Madrid
Gravesen was one seen as one of the most hard working midfielders in the Premier League at the time and had a long spell at Everton. When Real Madrid came calling it was a massive surprise to everyone, but his spell at the club didn’t last very long.
Retirement to Crystal Palace
The Dutchman was one of the most talented footballers to come out of his generation, but stunned the world when started hopping from club to club in the lower leagues of the English game. In 2010 David’s made a shock move by signing for Crystal Palace after a year out of the game.
Portsmouth to Notts County
In his prime, Campbell was a phenomenal defender and even in his later years when playing for struggling side Portsmouth, he could walk into most Premier League sides' first teams. He made a shock move to Notts County in League Two after the season Portsmouth were relegated.
West Ham to Real Madrid
Many don’t even know who Julian Faubert is, let alone that he played for Real Madrid. The Frenchman had a horrible stint for English side West Ham United and who knows why Real Madrid agreed to take him on loan, as he only made two appearances.
