In the third instalment of Fabian McCarthy's interview with Fan Park, the former Bafana Bafana defender touched on his best career moments, and expressed his hopes that Mamelodi Sundowns can bring home the CAF Champions League title. Can you guess what his best memories as a footballer are?
The towering 39-year-old played an integral part in helping Kaizer Chiefs secure two consecutives PSL titles back in 2003/04 and 04/05, and has dubbed his silverware-winning years as some of his best career moments. However, he also added a standout moment that did not include victory.
"Obviously it will be at Chiefs… Winning the league back-to-back, winning trophies and going to the Olympics," he told Fan Park editor Rossella Marrai-Ricco.
"Another one was losing in the final of the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns."
McCarthy went on to add that he hopes Sundowns can go all the way to the final and lift the Champions League trophy.
"My wish for them is that they win it this year. It is there, they are in it, and they can do it. They have the momentum to say that they are going to walk my former team, which is Kaizer Chiefs," continued the former Bloemfontein Celtic stalwart.
"Because if they have a star and Pirates have a star, then Chiefs still have to go for the star. I wish them all the best. It is there for them to take it, and I hope they win the trophy."
Do you think Sundowns can go all the way and win the continental tournament?
