Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Eric Mathoho may be a player ready for Europe, following a stellar season on a personal level where he was crucial in helping Amakhosi regain the Absa Premiership title.
Reflecting on his ambitions locally, Tower said in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that it was a dream come true joining Chiefs and winning trophies in the process.
“For me as a player and for the team as well, it has been a great season. You know, Kaizer Chiefs has a history of winning trophies, which is very good.
“As a player, I came here to win trophies and that dream is coming true. I am happy that everything that I came to Chiefs for is happening. It has been a good season and we deserve to be champions looking at the way we played and our hard work."
He also mentioned that despite overcoming last season’s mishaps in the league title race, the club did not change much in the squad as they opted to carry out the same tasks as expected from the previous campaign.
“There is nothing much that we changed. For the past three seasons we haven’t changed the team or the technical team and we have worked the same way as last season.
“What we did is after losing two games, we went back and fought hard to start collecting points again and that’s what helped us, we didn’t want to repeat the same mistakes last season,” he added.
Reflecting on what Mathoho said, do you think consistency was the key to the league title success?
