Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa was heavily linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window, but the deal hit a few snags, with reports that the delay while on national duty saw the final paper work not being done.
With the possibility of Ace joining us at the end of the season, should we reconsider such a move taking into consideration Manyisa’s poor form?
He looks a total different player to the one that has attracted such praise in the last couple of years. Manyisa was usually the man on the ball at all times, fans could not wait to chant ‘Aaaaaace’ every single time he touched the ball.
Now though, it seems as if Manyisa is constantly trying to get in the game with not much effect. Many claimed that his decline in form was because of him being played in a deeper role. However, Manyisa has still looked dull even when playing in a more advanced attacking position.
There is no doubt that Manyisa is a cut above the rest when it comes to midfielders in this country, but his recent form could well make bosses at Chloorkop think twice about buying the player.
We may not know why Manyisa looks a shadow of his former self at present, but at the rate he is going, we could ask ourselves - is he any different from the stars at Chloorkop at the moment.
Having said that, should coach Pitso Mosimane and Patrice Motsepe think twice about signing Manyisa?
